Awan

This project consists of a series of 6 small timber huts which will be renting out as a holiday let in Ubud, Bali. The site is located in a large rice field and our clients would like each hut to have a breath-taking scenery.

Dealing with this amount of nature, we must respect the surroundings. In order to honour the rice field, we have decided that the structures should be light-weighted and as simple as possible. Which led to our design concept – we would like the huts to be seemingly floating above the rice fields, adopting Australian Architect Glenn Murcutt famous quote - touching the earth lightly.

The outlook of the huts is simple triangle, which provides spacious headroom for the morning sunlight to penetrate through the space. A bathtub is boldly placed at the front door, which allows guests to enjoy a bath while immerse themselves in the nature.
