This is an interesting project which is located in Edinburgh Scotland, a 1-bedroom flat at 3rd floor in the old town area called Grassmarket. The original condition of the flat was a bit tired and dull, our clients would like to renovate the flat into a more stylish, elegant Airbnb.

Understanding the history of Grassmarket, which consists a lot of dark histories, we decided to go for a slightly dark, mysterious but elegant vibe for the flat. Due to tight budget, we would not recommend customed furniture. Hence, all we did was to replace all the loose furniture, painting the sofa wall to be a dark green-ish blue featured wall in order to create that mysterious vibe to the space. On the featured wall, we hanged several paintings which were found on local second-hand shops and they’re all Scotland related paintings, we would love to honour the Scottish quality of the space through the paintings. To add some 3-dimensional quality to the featured wall, we also bought a wood-crafted deer head from local boutique store and hanged it on the featured wall.

The living room can look a little bit empty even we placed all necessary furniture in it, thus we decided to do something slightly out of the box – adding a decorative fireplace on the wall adjacent to the sofa! The result was amazing, adding lots of depth to the space and a sense of cosiness.

We kept it simple for the rest of the furniture in order to maintain the living room as the eye-catching feature of the flat.
