Shun Lung House
Home is not just a place, but it is a feeling, where a person feels safe and accepted. A home also tells a story and expresses a person or a family’s interests. To create a home requires an emotional connection, no matter how simple it seems to others, it can be a space that nourish one’s soul, endure happiness or buffer one from stress.
Our clients’ home is located in the hill of Lam Tin, after getting to know them, we understand that they love Japanese culture and their design attitude. They also like the coziness that brings out from wood.
The living area is quite compact, we divided the storage areas into “display” and “non-display”. Tried to obtain a balance between storage and living space. We created in-floor-storage instead of high cabinet as “non-display”, cabinets with glass doors are to be “display”, to show case our client’s figures collections. Timber strips are used to hide two hidden doors which are for study and master bedroom. The timber strips are extended from the floor storage up to the ceiling, visually expanding the ceiling height.
The original kitchen only has one-side bench, however we decided to place another bench on the opposite wall which maximises the kitchen counter-top space and storage.
