The Regent
The apartment named “The Regent” is located at mid-level Tai Po, overlooking the splendid Lai Chi Mountain. It is a newly constructed building thus no works are needed to be done for the kitchen and bathroom, our job was to design customised furniture and provided a character for the spaces.
Our clients are young couples who loves playing guitar and cats, our challenge for this project is to design the apartment revolves around their passions.
Two high cabinets are placed on both sides of the entrance door, to create a sense of entrance foyer. The cabinets are strategically designed to look less bulky than conventional tall cabinets. The major tones for the cabinets are walnuts with oak as highlights, which give lots of depth to the space, the cabinets are constructed with open-shelves which provide a sense of lightness as well as sufficient storage & display.
A piece of wood was designed to wrap around the dining and living area, visually it can be used to hide the thick beam above the main entrance, functionally it can be used as a display area for our client’s favourite guitars. Similar design reappeared in the master bedroom, another guitar is displayed at the side of the wardrobe, it is the first thing you see when you step into the master bedroom. Such design can also minimise the bulkiness of having a wardrobe facing the bedroom door.
Apart from walnut and oak, most of the walls were painted with navy blue. Having all the walls painted with dark blue might make the space look smaller, thus we decided to only painted it with half-height in the living room instead. The full height navy blue wall in the master bedroom acts as a feature wall and also gives a similar vibe and character of the living room.
